Game of Thrones Season 7 trailer

LISTEN: Game of Thrones: Light of the Seven

The new Game of Thrones trailer got releases today, and wow, it preempts what we’ve all been waiting for.

At the end of the last season, we were left with an impending battle. Cersei had just blown up all the Lords; Arya had just made her back to Westeros; and Daenerys was on board a ship travelling to King’s Landing.

The new trailer starts with Cersei outlaying the problem she has, as we walks onto a large colourful map of Westeros, where she meets Jaime.

Enemies to the east.

Enemies to the west.

Enemies to the south

Enemies to the north.

Whatever stands in our way, we will defeat it.

– Cersei Lannister

And we get shown four short snippets of who they are. First we have Grey Worm. Then we have what looks to a be ship in raining weather. I would say this is a Greyjoy ship, but they were last seen coming to King’s Landing from Essos. We then see a sword to represent south, this can only mean Dorne. And finally, Ayra as she makes her way to to the capital by horse.

Not too much time has passed as Cersei still had short hair.

I quite liked the next sentence by Cersei, as she talks to Jaime:

We are the last Lannisters,

The last ones who count.

– Cersei Lannister

Tyrion Lannister

And as we see here the second sentence, Tyrion is seen walking to the edge of the cliff with a dragon flying across the screen. Great imagery.

I was born to rule the Seven Kingdoms… and I will

– Daenarys Targaryen

Daenarys Targaryen

We are then lead into Daenerys’ story line. You can see the awe on her face when the gates open to King’s Landing; being able to see this place for the first time in years and the connections she’s making with the place. This is followed by the Second Sons in battle, though the timing of the battle is very uncertain.

Petyr Baelish then comes in through the voice over, talk to Sansa at. We also see glimpses of Jon, with Brienne, Davos, and Sansa, Littlefinger and Lyanna Mormont in the background.

Your father and brothers are gone, and yet here you stand.

Last best hope against the coming storm.

– Littlefinger

Then we see Theon and Melisandre. She looks to be in King’s Landing as well, watching over some new visitors. Ayra is still alone, as she tries to survive the winter.

The short snippets of the impending war are what I presume to be in King’s Landing. The war against the White Walkers will probably happen in Season 8. The Dothraki come steaming in on their horses. A ship gets burnt to dust.

If we don’t put aside out enmities and band together, we will die…

And then it doesn’t matter whose skeleton sits on the Iron Throne.

– Davos

Ser Davos Seaworth

I think the above line is in reference to the White Walkers, Davos is warning someone that they need to work on stopping the White Walkers before they fight for the Seven Kingdoms. In other words, they need to make sure that Seven Kingdoms is still there to rule over, instead of worrying about who will rule it

The Mountain prepares himself. Jon attacks Littlefinger underneath Winterfell. The Second Sons and the Queensguard. Ayra is cautious of monsters under her bed. A hand appears out of a hole. Jon and Tormund run for their lives. Grey Worm and Missandei kiss. A lion is knocked over (which could foreshadow a Lannister death). Two people dive into the water to survive the blaze.

The last image we get is a herd of Dothraki warriors riding their horse towards an impending battle, with Drogon leading the way.

The Great War…. is here.

– Jon

Game of Thrones premieres on Monday the 17th of July, 2017 on Showcase.
